ABOUT THE COMPANY

SETSCO is geared toward the betterment of its teenage members. As part of the Company, young actors are not just learning about the works of William Shakespeare; they learn responsibility, time management, cultural diversity, and the path to becoming a well-rounded adult. The Southeastern Teen Shakespeare Company is made up of activities in the following areas:
  • Performance
  • Training
  • Education
  • Management
  • Academia/Research
  • Development/Entrepreneurism

SETSCO is dedicated to performing quality productions of Shakespeare and learning about the play, the playwright, his life and times, and theatre. To this end, the Company is highly involved in every aspect of the production, from selecting and editing the play to publicity, sets and costumes. With the guidance of the director, Company members also serve in roles behind the scenes, including directing, casting, set design, light design, dramaturgy, and stage management. Cast members will also help organize publicity, design the programs, build sets, and find props and costumes. By getting involved in the whole production, the cast is able to better appreciate and understand theatre and Shakespeare.

Statement of Vision

The vision of the Southeastern Teen Shakespeare Company is to establish and maintain educational and performance opportunities of unprecedented excellence for youth. Company members will be trained in a workshop style. The primary goals of the company are to teach students to listen, discern, and think both critically and creatively; to increase student's cultural awareness through the Elizabethan ideals of inquiry, balance, and harmony; to perform as Elizabethans did – in love with poetry, physical prowess and the mysteries of the universe. SETSCO hopes to challenge its audiences and actors with innovative classical and contemporary productions of artistic excellence.

Funding and Sponsorships

SETSCO falls under the jurisdiction of Pensacola Little Theatre, Inc., a 501(C)3 non-profit organization.
